Made in Vietnam 5S is for our family and for society!
5S is a basic management method that helps increase productivity and quality of Japanese products / services and is applied in most developed countries in the world. Being introduced into Vietnam for nearly 30 years, 5S method has not really come into production and business life in particular and social life in Vietnam in general. The 5S movement so far has been mostly maintained only for a while and then gradually cooled down over time.
During this current international integration period, “How to maintain 5S in the long term and how to develop and expand 5S method for becoming the culture of the business, becoming a civilized lifestyle of Vietnamese families and society” always is a permanent question for Vietnamese businesses, Vietnamese families and society.
Derived from the practical requirements as mentioned above, Dr Nguyen Dang Minh (President of GKM Lean Institute) has studied and created Made in Vietnam 5S Lean Management method (in the system of methods of Made in Vietnam Lean Management). This method was built on the principle of inheriting and respecting the essence of Japanese 5S method and creating the content of management reflecting the specific Vietnamese conditions of long term implementation and maintaining in Vietnam.
With these practical values, on June 22 and 23, 2019, GKM Lean Institute has successfully organized the training course of No. 35 ” Made in Vietnam 5S Lean Management in practical production and business”. The course has attracted the participation of students who are CEOs and managers, 5S managers from enterprises including MK Smarts, Tam Phat, FC wiring, Binh Thuan Plastics, Viet Duc Paint, and Tan Phat Equipment, Dream Space and etc. At the course, despite understanding and applying 5S for a long time, with the difference of the content and the way of facilitation the course, the participants all thought that the experience of knowledge and orientation of practical application according to the new method of the course has made every person go from one surprise to another.
- The first surprise is that, before coming to the course, all the participants just wanted to find a way to solve the existing problems in the 5S application process in their businesses such as: Despite of being applied for long time but the traditional 5S has not brought the desired effect; Workers perform 5S reluctantly, not sustainable. After the course, the trainees in addition to finding a solutions to resolve there also have specific plans to implement Made in Vietnam 5S into practical work.
- The second surprise is the Made in Vietnam Lean 5S can provide solutions and orientations for both family and society. The family will be more civilized in the kitchen, living room, bedroom, wardrobe. Streets, beaches, parks will be cleaner, society will be more civilized when people join hands to apply and maintain exactly as the content is trained and oriented. Since then, Made in Vietnam 5S has become a method close for everyone in society, making the whole society better.
- The third surprise is that Made in Vietnam 5S is also a tool not only applied in real life, but also can be applied in virtual space such as files in the computer or in cyberspace.
- The fourth surprise and also the biggest surprise is Made in Vietnam 5S is not only a tangible method but also has been developed into intangible 5S applied in human thinking, the method of working of people.
In addition to the mentioned surprises, the opinions on the training course are also summarized and drawn up by participants. Ms. Thieu Ngoc Chi, head of the control board of Binh Thuan Plastic Corp. affirmed: “The course changed the comprehensive view of the company to 5S but enterprises are still understanding”. Mr. Le Hien Tuan, Director of Tam Phat Company stated that he will change the current 5S implementation to Made in Vietnam 5S and will put the criteria of applying Made in Vietnam 5S into the criteria of employee performance review”. Ms. Dang Minh Nguyet, in charge of Warehouse Management of Tan Phat Equipment Technology Joint Stock Company, said: First of all, she will apply Made in Vietnam 5S herself to improve warehouse management capacity then she will use it as the example to train the subordinates for applying together to improve warehouse management efficiency for the company. After the course she will report the leaders and deploy immediately into practice.
The Made in Vietnam 5S training course closed with many emotions, each participant has built a plan to implement Made in Vietnam 5S for their own businesses and families and they will spread to society in the further future.
